Turnbacks & Assignment Rules

These apply to every official. When a rule points you to the game's assignor, use the directory below to find who that is.

MCHO-labeled games

Use Horizon First

For any game coded MCHO, use the “Click to Request Turnback” feature in Horizon whenever possible — it cuts email traffic and nothing gets lost. For other questions, email assignor@mchofficials.com.

Inside 72 hours · MCHO games

Call or Text Immediately

Turnbacks within 72 hours of an MCHO game: call or text (312) 626-8577 right away. Never contact Brett, Dave, Mike, or Scott individually — the team works one shared line so whoever is on call can cover the game fast.

Contact That Assignor Directly

Games under any other code are turned back to that assignor, using the contact in the directory below. Their info also appears under the assignment in Horizon.

48-hour rule

Cancelling a Game

A minimum of 48 hours' notice is required to cancel, and individual assignors may require more. Cancellations are for emergencies only — repeat cancellations can cost you games or trigger fees.

Zero tolerance

No-Shows

A no-show is fined double the game fee. Assignors share no-show and cancellation history, and repeat offenders lose assignments across the board.

Solo games

Partner No-Shows

Worked a game alone? Notify that game's assignor that your partner no-showed — immediately if possible, and no later than 12 hours after the game.
